Based on a novel, Abra-Mule; or, a True Hisotry of the Dethronement of Mahomet IV, translated from the French of Lenoble, this play was first performed at Lincoln's Inn Fields, January 13, 1704. The work earned for its author a certain literary reputation, although he was rebuked for its composition by Bishop Robinson when he was presented for ordination in the English church.
