This was a very popular treatise and there were numerous subsequent and revised editions.". Second Edition of what Henrey describes as the most important and influential work on viticulture published in England in the eighteenth century (first published in quarto format in 1790). The author was gardener to William Henry Cavendish Bentinck, third Duke of Portland on his estate of Welbeck Abbey in Nottinghamshire.
