Manuscript Letter, signed, dated House of Commons, Ottawa, March 23, 1873, marked "this is a copy of his exact". "I have given instruction to my broker at St. George to send me the Broughton acct books that I may ascertain the exact amount collected for you & which sum I shall forward to your address. "Mrs. Rogers has disposed of her claims amounting to upwards of $10,000 to Mr. Rattray of Quebec for the sum of $3,500 not withstanding the great difficulty of collecting the sums due to Mr. Hall & his children. I shall be prepared to purchace [sic] at the same rate in the month of June. "I continue to be Mr. Rattrays Agent & I wish to purchase solely for political purposes - unfortunately when we passed deeds (on your first visit) errors crept into certain deeds but these can be remedied when giving the quit claims.".

The document concerns provisions for a female child of James De Lancey of Annapolis [1746-1804] [Army Officer, Loyalist, and Annapolis County Politician], officially appointing Thomas Barclay of New York, and William De Lancey and Thomas Ritchie, both of Annapolis, as her legal guardians. The child, named Ann, aged two at the time of the execution of the present document, was born after De Lancey's death in 1804.
