8vo. pp. viii, [1], 164. woodcut ornaments & initials. contemporary sprinkled calf (rubbed, head of spine chipped). First Edition. The author was Steward at the Inner Temple from 1708 to 1736. Trowell was well known for his skill at raising bulbous plants, notably tulips and hyacinths. A chapter on the subject is included here (pp. 114-30) in addition to others on grains, vegetables, flax, madder, saffron, hops, forest and fruit trees, herbs, shrubs, green house plants, and grape vines. In his preface, Trowell praises the virtues of Living's manure. Fussell II p. 13. Henrey II pp. 455-57 (incorrectly citing date 1738).
